60 Minutes wins at 34th Annual & Docu Emmy Awards

MANILA, Philippines - 60 Minutes won six awards in the recent 34th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. CBS, the program’s television broadcaster and producer in the US, announced the good news. 

Six awards were awarded to several segments of 60 Minutes, namely: Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a News Magazine was given to the segment Aleppo; Outstanding Feature Story in a News Magazine was given to the segment Joy in the Congo; Outstanding Editing was also given to Joy in the Congo; Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting in a News Magazine was given to the segment Hard Landing; Outstanding Interview in a News Magazine for the segment Killing Bin Laden; and Best Report in a News Magazine was also given to the segment Killing Bin Laden. 

Steve Kroft, meanwhile, reports on the alarming state of the federal disability program, which has exploded in size in the last four years and could become the first federal benefits program to run out of money.
Most Americans know what happened during America’s first battle against al Qaeda 20 years ago thanks to the Oscar-winning film, Black Hawk Down. Now for the first time, they can see how the actual battle unfolded in never-before-seen footage obtained by 60 Minutes and from eyewitnesses.
It is estimated that there are a million asteroids in space big enough to destroy a city, and scientists only know where one percent of them are.
