Carla Abellana on the secret of her 3-year relationship with Geoff

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Carla Abellana believes that in real life, insecurities are part of a relationship.

Though a lot of people describe her relationship with Geoff Eigenmann as “perfect,” Carla says that they’re far from perfect.

Some think one factor that could cause that insecurity is Carla’s success. She’s one of the main casts of GMA’s primetime drama series ‘My Husband’s Lover.’

In a recent interview, Carla said she would prefer Geoff to answer such speculations. But just to be sure, what she does to avoid such issues is “when we’re together, I don’t talk about work that much kasi ayoko naman na trabaho ko lang ang pinag-uusapan."

“I always find the right time, the right moment to talk about him din. Kasi hindi maiiwasan ang insecurities, dapat lang maging conscious ka na hindi siya ma-insecure.”

Key to happy relationship

It was Carla and Geoff’s third anniversary last month, which they celebrated with a simple dinner.

Carla also proudly shared that she received a pair of shoes from Geoff, which he bought during a trip to Las Vegas.

In their three years together, Carla and Geoff learned how to handle their relationship based on their past and present experiences.

Yet Carla admits it wasn’t easy for them to handle a relationship where they’re both under the limelight.

“Kasi a lot of people say it’s easier dahil pareho kayong nasa business, mas nakaka-relate kayo with each other better," she said.

“There are times naman na it’s more difficult kasi minsan nagiging competitive kayo sa isa’t isa. Sabi nila mas maganda kapag ‘yong isa nagla-lie low, so I don’t know,” she added.

But according to Carla, the things that are keeping them together are finding time for each other and Geoff’s continuous effort for their relationship.

Though Carla’s busy with her show’s tapings and on rehearsals for their upcoming concert, she makes sure to find time to be with Geoff.

“Find time for each other, tapos keep the communication open, kahit text lang ‘yan, tawag basta update each other para iwas sa miscommunication," she said. “Tapos kapag may oras ka, may free time ka, may bakante ka sa schedule mo bigay mo sa kanya.”

During their bonding moments, Geoff usually goes to Carla’s place, where the actress would prepare a meal for them.

Carla said that Geoff loves to eat seafood and cream-based pasta, as well as grilled steak.

Meanwhile, another thing that Carla’s thankful for is Geoff’s continuous effort for their relationship.

“Ano talaga siya pursigido, pursigido na i-improve ang sarili niya, pursigido na mag-grow, pursigido na ipakitang love ka talaga niya and that he’ll do everything for you. Kaya hindi nawawala ‘yong effort talaga,” said Carla.

Though they don’t have plans yet of settling down yet, Carla hopes that when that day comes, it will be Geoff who’s waiting for her at the end of the aisle.
