Sexy Talk with Edward Mendez

A few years ago, Edward Mendez appeared in the movie Pinay Pie which starred Ai-Ai de las Alas in the title role. But I doubt if anybody remembers. This time, starring again with Ai-Ai in Kung Fu Divas, with Marian Rivera also in the title role, Edward is being talked about after Ai-Ai made a public admission that she and Marian were “distracted” by Edward’s precious part during the shoot. Edward plays the martial-arts trainer of the two “divas,” a role close to real life because Edward is a fitness buff who has written a book called Your Dream Body Come True.

“The idea of my book is revolutionary because the principle of it is to eat more and exercise less, and to get your best dream body in less than three months,” Edward said in a previous interview.

No wonder he enjoyed doing Kung Fu Divas, directed by Onat Diaz, part of the 20th-anniversary celebration of Star Cinema which produced it with Reality Entertainment and O & Co. Picture Factory, with Ai-Ai and Marian as co-producers.

“I was amused,” laughed Edward when asked how he reacted to Ai-Ai’s reference to his private part, adding in jest, “thanks to Ai-Ai, people have started asking me about ‘it’.”

A Cancerian (July 2), Edward stands 6’1”; weighs 185 lbs.; and wears large-size shirt and briefs, and size-11.5 shoes.

Edward was born in the Philippines and grew up in the US. He graduated with a degree in Sports Science and Medicine from the University of Maryland. His grandfather, his father and all his (father’s) siblings are doctors.

“I have a brother, Matthew, who is a part of the tennis national junior rankings in the US,” said Edward who has done ramp modeling and commercials (Shampoo Pantene, Lux, Lucky Me, Medicol and Safeguard) before he appeared in ABS-CBN teleseryes. “I didn’t become a doctor like my elders but what I’m doing (writing a fitness book, etc.) is closely related to medicine.”

“Sexy to me is high intelligence mixed with enormous wit.”

When do you feel sexy?

“After a great workout.”

What part of your body do you find sexiest?

“My back.”

What part of a woman’s body do you find sexiest?

“Legs and butt.”

When did you lose your innocence?

“When I was 12.”

To a younger woman, older woman or woman your age?

“To an older woman, I guess, when I first saw a magazine spread meant for adults only. At that moment, my innocence was instantly lost.”

“Definitely lights on.”

“I may have received one indirectly but I was probably too unassuming to notice.”
