Tom steals Cosmo Bash 2013 show with martial arts demo

MANILA, Philippines- Tom Rodriguez showed off his martial arts expertise during the Cosmo Bachelor Bash 2013.

He went out the stage topless, with a chako on hand, while the girls go loco over his sexy body. Among the crowd is his My Husband’s Lover co-star Carla Abellana.

In an interview Tuesday night after the event, Tom said using the chako during the show was a last-minute gimmick idea for him.

“‘Yun ang challenging na part sa pagrampa, eh, ‘yong kanya-kanyang gimik, wala talaga ako maisip as in last minute na. Kagabi galing shooting, pagkauwi ko, ‘Ano kaya gagawin ko?’ sakto nakita ko sa mantle piece ko ‘yong chako tsaka iba ko pang pang-martial arts.”

Tom didn’t expect the warm welcome of the crowd when he graced the stage. He was even nervous before the event.

Yet he knows that the good reception from the audience was because of his present project “My Husband’s Lover,” which is aired in GMA.

“Kasi ang laki, totoo ‘yon, ang laki nang natulong sa akin ng GMA at ng My Husband’s Lover.

“Kaya part ng success namin dito at part ng tili ng mga tao ay dahil din sa kanila. Kaya grabe ‘yong gratitude.”

When asked about his preparations for the event, the Kapuso hunk joked saying, “nag-undergo ako ng Dengue diet!”

Then he shared that a few days before the show, he had Dengue which caused him to lose a lot of weight.

Meanwhile, his top-rating primetime soap opera is nearing the end, and Tom can’t help but to feel sad.

Good thing they still have a world tour and an upcoming concert on October 12, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Aside from a concert, Tom and Dennis are also working on an album, where they still have one track left to record.

“I’m proud to say naman na we’re happy naman ni Dennis sa mga kantang na-record namin,” Tom said beaming.

Some of the songs included in the album are revivals from the 80s and the 90s, two original tracks composed by Vehnee Saturno, and Tom and Dennis’ duet of the songs Forever and One More Try.
