Steve Tamayo’s success story

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - How did Tamayo’s Catering Services and Restaurant owner and chairman Steve Tamayo go from working as janitor and waiter to being one of the most successful and most awarded restaurateurs in the country? Know his story from broadcast journalist Karen Davila in My Puhunan today at 4:15 p.m. on ABS-CBN.

After working as janitor and waiter, Steve went on to manage hotels in Manila and in the Middle East. He eventually put up his own business in Kuwait, which failed due to the political turmoil in the country.

After coming home to the Philippines with almost nothing, Steve capitalized on his skill in sales and public relations to start anew in his entrepreneurial career and put up Tamayo’s Catering, which became popular and catered to star-studded events and shows.

In My Puhunan, Steve helps out and mentors Sonia Adorna, a 45-year-old fishball vendor by giving her a small capital and selling tips and pricing methods for her food business.

Karen also unveils the other side of actor, director and producer Joel Torre as a businessman in My Idol’s Puhunan. Joel owns JT’s Manukan Grill, the famous restaurant for its delicious and authentic chicken inasal. Ten years after putting up his first branch in Gilmore, the restaurant already has 12 branches now.
