Richard wants to wait before having a baby with Maricar

MANILA, Philippines - Last July, It was rumored that Maricar Reyes is pregnant—just a few weeks after her wedding to Richard Poon. But the Kapamilya singer clarified that Maricar is not pregnant.

In fact, Richard said he plans to wait before having a baby with his wife Maricar.

“Plano namin one and a half years or two years after pa,” the Kapamilya singer told Philstar.com and other members during the press conference of Resorts World Manila’s Thrillapalooza and Chocolate Festival on Monday, September 2.

According to Richard, the decision to wait was an advice from his married female friends who said he should first shower Maricar with attention before jumping into parenthood. Having a baby, after all, might change the dynamics of their relationship.

“So gusto kong ibigay kay Maricar yung attention. Kasi pag nag-anak daw, mag-iiba na raw lahat. Tapos tuluy-tuloy na,” he added.

How many children do they plan to have? “Sana, isang girl at isang boy. Kasi ganun ako e. Boy and girl kaming magkapatid pero yun lang naman,” Richard said.

Changes

Richard and Maricar got married last June, less than a year after the two admitted they are in a relationship. But the two have known each other since 2009.

Because of their friendship, Richard said there were no big changes in his life since he got married.

“For me, it’s basically the same. It’s just that, like any friendship, may nadi-discover kang bago sa kanya dahil magkasama na kayo,” he said.

However, the singer admitted he found himself wanting to spend his free time with Maricar.

“Mas naintindihan ko na yung dating kinu-complain ko sa mga married friends ko na 'pag may kainan, sila yung unang umaalis. Sabi nila, ‘Chard, balang araw maiintindihan ko rin kami.’ Sabi ko, ‘mga KJ kayo!’ Ngayon, naiintindihan ko na kasi after ‘ASAP,’ after a show, umuuwi ako agad kasi alam kong nag-iintay siya or alam kong limited yung time,” Richard said.

Maricar is currently doing a movie with Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo.

“Pag may time kami, mas gusto kong magkasama kami kasi alam kong may work din siya,” he added.

Richard spoke to the press to promote his show for Resort World Manila’s Thrillapalooza free concert series. Other artists set to perform this month are Yeng Constantino, Rachelle Anne Go, and Jennylyn Mercado, among others.

“I think my music is sobrang fit sa audience nila,” the big band crooner said.
