Mutya named Miss Personality in Miss Supranational prelims
MANILA, Philippines - Days before the grand finals of the 2013 Miss Supranational Pageant now being held in Belarus, Philippine bet Mutya Johanna Datul has started making waves when she bagged the Miss Supranational Personality Award last Wednesday, Aug. 28, during the pre-pageant event held at The National Beauty School of Minsk. Other delegates who won special awards were Miss Sweden, Miss Supranational Elegance; Miss Moldova, Miss Supranational Top Model; and Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Supranational Photogenic.
The chilly European weather has not dampened the warm welcome that Belarus is giving Mutya. She has been going around having a cultural overload sampling the food, visiting basilicas, touring the countryside and interfacing with the locals, young and old. Mutya is particularly taken by the children of Belarus (shown in pictures that accompanied the stories by contributors Celso de Guzman Caparas and the team of Felix Manuel, Joey Cezeare, Gery Yumping and Francis Calubaquib, published last Thursday).
Incidentally, here’s a correction by Celso himself on his story about Mutya and the two half-Pinays in the contest with her: The girl who represented Canada in the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant was Adwoa Yamoah (who took over from 2012 Miss Canada-Universe winner Sahar Biniaz after she backed out due to personal reasons) and not, as wrongly mentioned (due to technical problems), Suzette Hernandez who finished among the Top 12 semi-finalists in the 2012 Miss Universe-Canada and not in the Miss U semis. Suzette represented Vancouver in the Miss-U-Canada contest.
Besides Suzette, the other Pinay competing with Mutya in the Miss Supranational Pageant is Miss Norway Marie Molo Peter.
After the Talent Show, Mutya and the 93 other girls will feel the crunch of rehearsing for the much-awaited pageant night on Friday, Sept. 6. You can help improve Mutya’s chances of winning by, aside from praying, voting for her online via the Miss Supranational website from now until Sept. 5. The candidate who gets the most number of votes will be crowned Miss Internet and she automatically advances to the pageant’s Top 20.
The reigning queen is from Belarus.
