UPOU digital video & photography contest winners

MANILA, Philippines - The UP Open University recently revealed the winners of its Digital Video Competition  Take Two and the Digital Photography Competition 2013.

Huni Kainadto (Melody of the Past) by Master of Development Communication student Rhyndl Nephi-Z Luczon won the Best Documentary and Most Elderly Sensitive Awards. The video is a glimpse into the melancholic, uplifting life of 81-year-old Nanay Sol in an aged care facility.

Finals by another Devcom student Cesar Claro Marquez won the Best Narrative Award for depicting the travails of a student taking the final examination.

Nicole’s Rainbow by Devcom student Grace Bernadette Cortes bagged the Most Gender Sensitive Award. Diliman Afternoon by Multimedia Studies student Misael Bacani received the Honorable Mention.

For the photography category, the first place honors went to Wireless Connection by Bryan Madera. Natural Connection by Eleanor Manipol and Buklod: A Filipino Trait Connection Generations by Serafin Farley Meneses III placed second and third, respectively.

The winning videos will be shown in a UPOU film festival to be coordinated by the university’s Cultural Committee.
