Bryan enjoys singing more than acting

Honey Orio-Escullar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Finding one’s niche in the showbiz industry is no piece of cake. This, Bryan Termulo always knew, but it hasn’t discouraged him. What he’s after is the fulfillment he finds in following his dreams.

Bryan’s winning as first runner-up on GMA’s singing contest Pinoy Pop Superstar 3 led him to where he is now. Singing is Bryan’s comfort zone. In fact, he has released two albums — Begin (2010) and Hanggang Ngayon (2012). Only this year, he had mounted his first solo concert titled Bryan Termulo XXV at the Music Museum for his 25th birthday.

Bryan is also dubbed as the “Prince of Teleserye Theme Songs” for being the voice behind the soundtrack of several ABS-CBN primetime shows.

In the two years since he became a Kapamilya, he has also ventured into acting, with his biggest challenge to date is being part of the primetime series Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.

“I consider it as my official teleserye,” Bryan says. “I did guestings in Budoy, Wansapanataym, Maalaala Mo Kaya, but for Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, I was really part of the pictorial, presscon, storycon, etc.”

Asked which does he enjoy the most between acting and singing, he says, “Still singing, of course. But I don’t take my acting projects for granted. It’s an opportunity that ABS-CBN gave me so kelangan kong mahalin yung mundo ng acting.”

Bryan affirms his big improvements since he set foot in the Kapamilya network.

“I would describe it as ‘iba’ (in Tagalog). Iba ang reach ng audience niya, iba din yung narating ko and iba na yung dating ko kasi (physically) because I am motivated also to look good. I’m now conscious of what I wear. ABS-CBN sort of influenced me a lot na magbago, including my acting, singing and in doing shows,” he says.

How does he handle the pressure of being in the limelight? Says Bryan, “It has never been a pressure to me. Sometimes, I forget to say thank you pa nga sa mga blessings na yun. No matter how big or small, I have to be thankful for every project that comes my way.”

Bryan, meanwhile, has a new task on his plate being the latest addition to BNY Jeans’ roster of ambassadors. BNY has officially introduced Bryan as an endorser during a contract-signing last Aug. 1 at Sir Boy’s Food Republique, Panay Ave., Quezon City.

“I’m thankful to the BNY family for giving me their trust. I’m so happy to be part of it. It’s my very first time to have a clothing endorsement. In return, I’ll do my best to promote it,” says Bryan.

BNY special events manager April Bermudez explains, “There are many factors why we chose him as our newest ambassador. Bryan being a singing heartthrob has a wide following. He’s fashionable, good-looking and of course, he’s a singer and actor. It’s our first time to have a certified singer endorser.”

It seems everything is doing good in his career. Bryan offers, “I have to say, strike while the iron is hot, grab the opportunity once it is there.”

Bryan, however, is ready whatever happens in the future.

“I’m studying now. Andun ako sa idea na anytime baka mawala ang career, kaya bago mangyari yun I should have a degree as a fallback. In my career particularly, I just want to record many teleserye songs or kahit anong songs, and if possible, every year may concert. Hopefully by next year, I’ll be able to graduate.”
