Gerald defends Maja from bashers: ‘May feelings din kami’

MANILA, Philippines - Gerald Anderson defended girlfriend Maja Salvador from social media users who are bashing the actress online.

In a post on the mobile photo sharing service Instagram on Monday, August 12, Maja thanked her fans for their support and asked them to ignore bashers.

In response to Maja’s Instagram post, the Kapamilya actor said: “Lahat  ng artista may bashers, hindi yun mawawala, kahit sino ka man. Hindi mawawala yun.”

Gerald spoke to the press during a blogger’s conference to promote his upcoming film “On The Job” on Tuesday, August 13.

He added that while he understands actors are public personalities, there comes a time when the comments online can get hurtful.

“Siyempre, umabot din sa point na parang sumusobra rin, di ba? Hindi porke’t artista kami, parang wala lang sa amin pag may nagba-bash. Siyempre, may feelings din kami. Tao pa rin kami. Siguro umabot din sa isang point na ganun (si Maja),” Gerald said.

Keeping it private

Gerald said he and Maja are doing fine, but the actor refuses to divulge any more information about their relationship.

“Yan ay isang malaking secret,” the “On The Job” actor said when asked how he spends quality time with Maja.

He added, “Siyempre, sa amin na po yun. Yung status po namin sa relationship po namin, open po sa lahat.”

“Pero yung relationship mismo is not open. Sa amin na po yun.”

Reports about Gerald and Maja’s blossoming romance started to surface last January, although the actor admitted their relationship only last June in a magazine interview.

The 24-year-old would rather talk about “On The Job,” which will open August 28. Directed by Erik Matti, the film will also star Piolo Pascual and Joel Torre.

“Sobrang iba siya. Ayaw naming i-lead on yung mga audience na it’s an action film lang dahil napakaganda ng kwento,” he said. “Yun ang dapat abangan, yung kwento, yung bawat character namin.”

Gerald added, “Sa seven years ko sa showbiz, ngayon lang din ako nakabasa ng ganitong klaseng script na sobrang proud ako kasi part ako ng film.”
