A showbiz newbie

MANILA, Philippines - Up-and-coming actor Rafael Robes dreams big, hoping to work with everyone in the showbiz industry, do record-breaking films and make it to international film festivals.

A fan of John Lloyd Cruz and Johnny Depp, Rafael studies at the University of Asia and the Pacific where he hopes to earn a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Management. It was in the university where he was first bitten by the acting bug, resulting in doing school plays.

In the beginning, however, Rafael only saw this as leisure: “At first I never saw myself in this industry, I’ve always pictured myself going pro in basketball. I’ve played for the school varsity team throughout high school and also some years in elementary.”

To date, Rafael has done a stint in Walang Hanggan and appeared in the Centrum TVC. He has attended basic and advance acting workshops under direk Rhayan Carlos of Star Magic. He is also part of Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?.
