KimXi loveteam debuts on big screen

MANILA, Philippines - Kim Chiu and Xian Lim are excited about their upcoming movie team-up from Star Cinema, Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?, which will hit cinemas nationwide on July 31. 

As part of the year-long grand celebration of Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary, the KimXi loveteam is proud to star in the film adaptation of the best-selling “self-help” humor book by self-proclaimed Internet action star Ramon Bautista, and directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal. 

“We’re happy to share the story of the movie because it’s totally different and very funny. We will show a different kind of acting,” said Kim, who confessed that she did everything to give justice to her character. 

Xian added that he and Kim enjoyed the on- and off-screen experience while shooting Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? He shared, “It’s our third project together and this is our first movie together so we’re now more open to each other — so more kulitan than seryoso.”

From the story and screenplay of Irene Emma Villamor, Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? is a “self-help” comedy movie about the lives of brainy, ugly duckling employee Sandy Veloso (Kim) and his rich and dashing boss Alex Prieto (Xian). 

“I’m playing Sandy, a 24-year-old virgin who is makulit and hardworking. She has become the employee of the month from January to December,” Kim explained. “Hindi niya alam na sa paningin ng ibang tao pangit pala siya pero sobra kung magmahal si Sandy.” 

In the middle of her plan to move on after a break-up with boyfriend Gardo (Kean Cipriano), Sandy’s life will turn a more exciting phase as she meets her domineering boss, Alex. 

“Since she’s the most reliable of all employees, I will seek Sandy’s help to fix the problems of our recording business,” narrated Xian. “Being a guy who gets what he wants, it’s interesting to know how Alex will convince Sandy to help him, given the fact that she just came from a break-up.” 

Both Kim and Xian shared that the moviegoers will not only laugh but will also learn lessons from Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? 

According to Kim, just like the other movies of Star Cinema for the past two decades, the characters in the movie will  share stories that moviegoers can relate to.
