Luke & Pretty Young Thing at Manila Bay clean-up run
MANILA, Philippines - Luke Mejares and Pretty Young Thing topbill the mini-concert capping the 2013 Manila Bay Clean-Up Run today.
Radio personalities from the country’s top FM stations will also compete in the races, particularly in the long distance divisions. Radio DJs from 90.7 Love Radio, 101.1 Yes FM and 96.3 Easy Rock are already flaunting their jerseys to harness massive support for initiatives to save marine and coastal resources through the public’s participation in the fun-run, which will help generate funds for Land Bank’s clean-up drive to save Manila Bay.
Employees and Operation Tulong volunteers from DZRH — the flagship station of Manila Broadcasting Company, which is organizing the event — will also be in full force as the country’s oldest radio network celebrates its 74th anniversary. That evening, Star City will also host Kambyo Kings Day with vehicle stickering and all-night videoke sessions for public utility drivers. DZRH is likewise set to mount an ambitious nationwide medical-dental-optical mission in Pasay, Las Piñas, Pasig, Taguig, Navotas, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Maguindanao, Surigao del Norte and Calamba, to be supplemented by the one at the Star City Complex, following the job fair at SM Megamall earlier within the week.
Running clubs, school groups, corporate teams and individual running enthusiasts have all pitched in to support the campaign, which is expected to draw about 4,500 runners come early Sunday morning, when the 21K race kicks off at 4:30 a.m., to be followed by the races for 10K, 5K and 3K distances.
The 2013 Manila Bay Clean-up Run is co-presented by Star City along with the cities of Manila and Pasay, with the support of Globe Telecom, Golden Oats, 2Go, Alpen Libe, Cobra Energy Drink, M. Lhuillier, Lomotil and Islands Souvenirs.
