Glenn Miller band at Resorts World

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - On Dec. 15, 1944, the plane carrying musician and composer Glenn Miller mysteriously vanished over the English Channel while en route to France where he was scheduled to perform for US troops. That was nearly 70 years ago. While circumstances surrounding his disappearance have been debated over the years, one thing is certain: His music and legacy are still very much alive today.

Widely considered to be one of the greatest big bands of all time, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has been highly sought after since it was formed in 1938 by Glenn himself, playing an average of 300 live performances a year all over the world. With hits such as Moonlight Serenade, In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction and Chattanooga Choo Choo. the band has become popular for its music hall concerts and swing dance engagements.

Known for hosting only the best acts from here and abroad, Resorts World Manila re-establishes its position as the home of premier entertainment by bringing the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to Philippine shores. Sure to excite and thrill, the band will make audiences swing and sing along to their unique jazz sounds when they perform at the state-of-the-art Newport Performing Arts Theater tonight.

The band will take the stage alongside fellow jazz act Swing Kittens, a singing group whose made a name by adding a contemporary spin on classical ’40s and ’50s music.

Tickets are available at the Resorts World Manila Box Office. Log on to www.rwmanila.com or call Tourist/Visitor Hotline 908-8833 for details on RWM show schedule and events.
