ABS-CBN, DZMM win at Rotary Journalism Awards
MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN and its flagship AM radio station DZMM were hailed as the Television Station of the Year and Radio Station of the Year, respectively, at the Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards held recently.
Receiving the TV Station Award was ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio, who reiterated ABS-CBN’s commitment to delivering relevant news to the public not just on TV and radio but on all media platforms.
“ABS-CBN has been breaking the biggest news that matter to the government and society and has also evolved through the years from being just a broadcast company transmitting news on TV and radio. Now, it is a multimedia news organization that reports news, analyzes issues, and serving the public here and abroad on TV, radio, cable TV, on the Internet, and social media. That’s why it remains the most watched, most trusted and most followed Philippine broadcast news organization,†he said.
DZMM station manager Marah Capuyan, meanwhile, honored the staff of DZMM for its fifth Radio of the Year award.
“This award is proof that our Kapamilya listeners continue to trust in DZMM’s programs and reports. We would like to thank the Rotary Club of Manila for this special recognition and we hope this will serve as inspiration to us at DZMM to work hard and strive to always be the first in news and in public service,†Capuyan said.
ABS-CBN was also recently recognized as the most trusted after it received a Gold Award from the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards, which seeks to identify brands consumers in Asia trust and provides an objective and reliable reference for consumers throughout the region.
One of the oldest and most prestigious award-giving bodies in journalism, RCM has been recognizing outstanding individuals and agencies in Philippine media since 1966.
