BBC’s Wonders of Life travels to Phl for pilot episode

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - One of the biggest mysteries on earth is life, how it started, where it started and how it is sustained. Solar News Channel takes you to a journey with its Stories presentation: Wonders of Life.

Prof. Brian Cox goes all around the world in an attempt to explain life and to show all its wonders. He visits South East Asia’s “Ring of Fire,” the world’s most volcanic region where he discovered the line between life and death. On his journey of explaining life, he invokes the supernatural and travelled the Philippines where he saw the annual Day of the Dead.

The annual Day of the Dead is cel- ebrated in Sagada, where the families of

the departed lights up fires as a celebra- tion of the life that has been. The people of Sagada believed that the dead give life to the living and among the living are the dead.

He then travelled to the edge of the Taal Volcano where he demonstrated how life may have risen from heat energy of inner earth and forced its way to the surface. The chemical changes it went through set up energy from which life might have emerged.

Catch the 5 episodes of BBC’s Wonders of Life on Solar News Channel’s Stories airing Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. with marathon replay on May 11 at 7 p.m.
