Fall Out Boy at the Big Dome
MANILA, Philippines - American pop-rock band Fall Out Boy is coming to Manila to perform in a special concert on Aug. 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
MMI and Ovation Productions have teamed up to bring to the local concert scene the Grammy-nominated New Wave band consisting of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley.
Its members originally performed in local underground hardcore bands in the Chicago area before getting together to form in 2001 what came to be known as Fall Out Boy and emerge as the biggest band in emo-pop in the 2000s.
With Pete as primary lyricist and Patrick as primary composer, Fall Out Boy broke out of the underground music scene and achieved mainstream success with a major label album, Under The Cork Tree.
Released in 2005 as the follow-up to its debut album, Take Me To Your Grave, the recording won several awards and attained multi-platinum status after selling more than 2.5 million albums in the US and spawning the Top 10 singles, We’re Going Down and Dance, Dance.
In 2007, Fall Out Boy released its third studio album, Infinity On High, to a resounding chart success, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and selling 260,000 copies on the first week and with Top Five chartings worldwide.
The album contained the top hits This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race and Thnks fr th Mmrs.
With the release of Folie a Deux in 2008, the band further evolved and expanded its musical palette.
In late 2009, Fall Out Boy came out with an announcement that it was going on an indefinite hiatus, with the explanation that it had not broken up but that the individual members were taking a break and engaging in various side projects.
Less than four years later, on Feb. 4, 2013, the band announced its comeback with the release of a new album, Save Rock And Roll, together with the start of a new tour and a new single.
The recording became the band’s second No. 1 album and features the Top 15 lead single, My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up).
Outside the US, Save Rock And Roll emerged as the week’s top iTunes worldwide leader, entering at No. 1 in 27 countries, including Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa and the Philippines.
The album opened at No. 2 in 13 other countries, such as the UK, Australia, Austria, Ireland, Brazil and Russia. It also entered at No. 10 in Norway, Argentina, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, France, India and Poland.
