Rihanna coming to Manila for concert

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Global superstar Rihanna is bringing her Diamonds World Tour to Manila. Tour Promoters Music Management International in association with Live Nation Global Touring announced that Diamonds World Tour happens on Sept. 19 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. Tickets are on sale starting today.

Rihanna has dominated global charts with Diamonds, the fastest-rising single of her career to date and first single to be released from Unapologetic, her seventh studio album for Island Def Jam in just seven years.

Rihanna first made waves in 2005 with her catchy debut single Pon de Replay, showcasing her Barbadian, dance-pop and R&B influences. Her next big hit was the 2006 SOS from her second album A Girl Like Me. 2007 saw the release of Good Girl Gone Bad to critical acclaim, including the biggest-selling single worldwide Umbrella, with its catchy hook propelling Rihanna’s career further with a Grammy award win shared with Jay-Z in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. A re-release called Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded included hits Don’t Stop The Music, Take A Bow and Disturbia.

Her fourth studio album in 2009 titled Rated R went on to explore different genres such as hip-hop, rock and dubstep, making it her most layered and heartfelt album with hits such as Russian Roulette, Hard with rap vocals by Jeezy and the infectious up-tempo Rude Boy. 2010 was another milestone year as she released Love The Way You Lie with rapper Eminem, which was a worldwide success, reaching No. 1 in over 20 countries, becoming Rihanna’s seventh No. 1 song in the US. Rihanna then released her fifth studio album, Loud, featuring Only Girl (In The World), What’s My Name featuring Drake and S&M which became the artist’s 10th No. 1 US single, making her the fastest artist to accumulate 10 top singles.

In 2011, Rihanna released her sixth studio album, Talk That Talk, with the lead single We Found Love featuring Calvin Harris, which went on to become the longest-running No. 1 single of 2011.

Rihanna’s latest album Unapologetic debuted in the US on the Billboard 200, becoming the best-selling debut week of her career. Her Unapologetic singles are Diamonds, which reached No. 1 in 22 countries, and Stay featuring Mikky Ekko, which marked Rihanna’s 24th Top-10 track on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The recipient of six Grammy awards and seven Billboard Music awards, Rihanna has sold over 41 million albums and 150 million digital tracks worldwide, and currently holds the record as the top-selling digital artist of all time.

Fans can look forward to an all-out performance, with all the bells and whistles of a high-concept concert tour, only to be expected from an artist of her caliber.

Watch Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour on Sept. 19 at the MOA Arena. Tickets are now available at SM Tickets outlets. For details, call MMI at 886-6194, SM Tickets at 470-2222 or visit www.SMTickets.com.
