Jueteng in Bayan Ko

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a typical Sunday in the town of Lagros with the townsfolk placing their jueteng bets — except this time, the kubrador resorts to making collections right outside the church in order to meet his quota. Mayor Joseph Santiago has begun a crackdown on jueteng operations, causing a downturn in collections and upsetting the underground economy.

The Mayor has managed to stick to his principles of governance after months in office. But when an epidemic hits Lagros and the municipal health center is in dire need of supplies, corrupt Governor Antonio Rubio proposes a compromise deal. Will the Mayor give in to save his sick townsmen?
