MANILA, Philippines - Whitney Houston may have passed away Feb. 11, 2012 but she will live on forever through her music and films. She was known as The Voice and considered the Best Pop Vocal Singer of her generation. She was blessed with an extraordinary vocal talent and the uncanny ability to connect with a song and drive home the drama and emotion with incredible precision.

On the eve of Whitney’s first death anniversary, GMA News TV airs Always…Whitney Houston, a documentary that takes viewers through the journey of Whitney’s career and how it began like a magical dream.

Whitney started off singing gospel with her renowned mother Cissy Houston, her cousin Dionne Warwick and her godmother Aretha Franklin. Soon after, she moved to modeling for major magazines. In 1983, Clive Davis was impressed with Whitney that he offered her a recording contract.

The film delves into how she transitioned into becoming one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time and how her crossover appeal then propelled her acting career at the box-office with The Bodyguard. 

The docu airs tonight at 11.
