Manila Hotel celebrates Chinese New Year

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Hotel lets you experience the rare pleasure of seeing Chinese artwork crafted using ancient hand-painting techniques with a fan painting exhibit by a family of artisans this Chinese New Year.

The exhibit titled Nature is by Chan Lim, a family of artists and engineers who are bound together by their common interests in arts and sciences. The family has been conducting painting exhibits, seminars and workshops for over three decades now. The exhibit will be held at the Mabuhay Palace Hallway. Nature will run from Feb. 10 to 24.

Guests dining at Mabuhay Palace can also participate in the Chinese painting workshop conducted by Dr. Alex Chan Lim on Feb. 10, 2 p.m. It is open to all guests of Mabuhay Palace dining until Feb. 9, with minimum food and beverage purchase of P3,500 in a single receipt. Guests who will avail the Chinese New Year Set Menu for P3,000 net per person can also register.

Guests staying at the hotel can also join the workshop for free. The Chinese New Year room package starts at P7,500 which includes breakfast for two, use of Health Club and Pool Area and complimentary use of Internet.

To welcome the Year of the Water Snake, the Mabuhay Palace prepared the traditional tikoy, a must-have festive delight for the occasion. Price starts at P1,008 and special rates are available for minimum orders.

Mabuhay Palace executive Chef Sun Bing and his team created a special set menu to bring in luck and prosperity. The 10-course set menu includes Chinese New Year Yu Sheng Prosperity Salad, Deep Fried Minced Shrimp Balls with Shrimp Glazed Almonds, Steamed Live Flambeed Garoupa, Slow Cooked Assorted Seafood Hot Pot, Wok Fried US Beef with Gann Xiang Sauce and Pan Fried Nian Gao. The Chinese New Year Set Menu is offered until Feb. 12 for lunch and dinner.
