Reporter’s Notebook airs Sektor: Magsasaka

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For the second installment of its eight-part anniversary special dubbed Sektor tomorrow night, GMA 7’s Reporter’s Notebook will focus on the second-poorest sector in the country composed of the farmers as stated by the National Statistical Coordination Board.

Reporter’s Notebook will investigate on the reasons as to why farmers continue being poor. Traveling through Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the program will check up on the real status of the country’s farmers. From the coconut farmers in Quezon, the sugarcane farmers of Negros Occidental, to the rice farmers of Zamboanga del Sur, program hosts Jiggy Manicad and Maki Pulido personally visit them to hear their issues, worries and wishes addressed to the government.

Past administrations and even the current administration have passed and implemented large-scale programs and projects in order to alleviate the condition of the farmers but until today they are still knee-deep in poverty. Despite their taxing work, earnings remain so little for majority of these farmers.

Be in the know of their real situation in Reporter’s Notebook’s anniversary special as it presents Sektor: Magsasaka, Binhi ng Kahirapan after Saksi.
