Captive bears the 'Tatak Brillante' stamp

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Oops! Sorry for yesterday’s head in the story about Captive that must have made Cannes Best Director Brillante ‘Dante’ Mendoza (photo) feel like a disease. It should have read Brillante’s ‘intentions’ in doing Captive but due to a proofreading lapse ‘intentions’ came out ‘infectious’ (which must be what the effect of Dante’s incisive films on the audience).

Bearing the ‘Tatak Brillante’ stamp, Captive is inspired by the Dos Palmas kidnapping of two US missionaries by the Abu Sayyaf. Produced by Swift Entertainment and Centerstage, the movie stars French actress Isabelle Huppert with local talents Ronnie Lazaro, Angel Aquino, Sid Lucero, Raymond Bagatsing, Rustica Carpio, Maria Isabel Lopez, Mercedes Cabral and Timothy Mabalot.

Before it opens nationwide on Wednesday, Sept. 5, Captive will be screened in the following venues: SM Pampanga for its Philippine premiere on Sunday, Sept. 2; and gala premiere at Greenbelt 3 on Monday, Sept. 3.
