Screen, hardcourt stars play for a cause

MANILA, Philippines - Showbiz personalities and hardcourt stars recently came together and played for a cause via Asi Taulava’s

Built Upon the Rock charity game to benefit the flood victims of the provinces of Bulacan and Rizal.

Fans had a great time at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City last Aug. 26, as Asi and friends treated them to a fun and friendly basketball showdown, which was also mounted with the support of Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and Swatch.

The Swatch team’s star-studded line-up included Derek Ramsay, Billy Crawford, Matteo Guidicelli, Luis Alandy, Marco Alcaraz and Carlos Agassi with popular cagers Chris Tiu, Mac Mac Cardona, Ren Ren Ritualo, Arwind Santos, Chris Lutz, Chris Ross, Kelly Wiliams, Dylan Ababou, Denok Miranda, Mark Barroca, Gerald Francisco, Doug Kramer and Jayjay Helterbrand.

Black Water team was powered by Hayden Kho, Jon Hall and Philippine Volcanoes’ Eric Tai with star players Kerby Raymundo, Ronald Tubid, Dorian Peña, Alex Mallari, Boyet Francisco, Billy Mamaril, Dondon Hontiveros, Allein Maliksi, Ken Bono, Beau Belga, Sunday Salvacion, Marcio Lassiter, Cliff Hodge, Rob Wainright, Paolo Hubalde and playing coach Jimmy Alapag.

The event also featured an auction for autographs from the participating celebs as well as special performances by Alex Crisano, Assunta de Rossi and Valerie Concepcion. Tim Yap hosted the event.

The game ended with the Black Water team winning against the Swatch team, 126-125.
