MANILA, Philippines - Who will be the country’s representatives to next year’s Manila international choral festival?
Seeking another exciting showdown among the best choirs in the country, Manila Broadcasting Company has launched this year’s MBC National Choral Competitions witha purview to finding the crème de la crème for its partnership with Germany0based Interkultu – organizers of the World Choir Games – which will stage Sing & Joy Manila – the much-touted 2013 international choral derby at the Star City Complex.
Regional eliminations for this year’s national championships will be held in Cauayan Isabela (Aug. 11), Baguio (Aug. 18), Lingayen (Aug. 19), Cebu (Aug. 25), Davao (Sept. 2), Iloilo (Sept. 8), Zamboanga (Sept. 15), General Santos City (Sept. 22) and Naga (Oct. 13). Choirs from mega-Manila and those who are unable to compete in any of the regional contests are welcome to audition at the Star Theater on either Oct. 6 or 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The top children’s choirs and outstanding vocal ensembles for the open category will take part in the semifinals scheduled on Dec. 3 to 6, followed by the grand finals at the Aliw Theater on Dec. 7.
