New Step Up movie brings (dancing) action to Miami
MANILA, Philippines - Step Up Revolution is the next installment in the worldwide smash Step Up franchise, which sets the dancing against the vibrant backdrop of Miami.
Emily Anderson (Kathryn McCormick), the daughter of a wealthy businessman, arrives in Miami with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, but soon falls in love with Sean Asa, a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs.
The crew, called the Mob, strives to win a contest for a major sponsorship opportunity, but soon Emily’s father threatens to develop the Mob’s historic neighborhood and displace thousands of people, Emily must band together with Sean (Ryan Guzman) and the Mob to turn their performance into protest mobs, and risk losing their dreams to fight for a greater cause.
Like its predecessors, Step Up Revolution brings together a young man and woman who might seem on the surface to have little in common. Their mutual love for dance blossoms into a passion that changes their lives. Sean is the rebellious son of working-class Cuban immigrants who finds self-expression in street dance. Emily is an aspiring contemporary dancer torn between the privilege provided by her father’s wealth and her own artistic aspirations.
Misha Gabriel, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Tommy Dewey, Peter Gallagher, and real-life choreographer Mia Michaels lead a rich supporting cast, with cameo appearances by fan favorites from the Step Up franchise.
