2 big productions from Sampaguita

REMEMBER WHEN? - The Philippine Star

In 1949, Sampaguita released one after the other two big productions: Apoy sa Langit (October) and Abogada (November), both directed by Eddie Romero.

Apoy sa Langit was set during World War II and starred Norma Blancaflor, Oscar Moreno, Pancho Magalona, Linda Estrella and Tessie Martinez.

Abogada was hyped as Lillian Leonardo’s follow-up starrer to Doktora, ‘1948’s most sensational star surpasses all performances in her role of roles as the witty, daring and engaging Abogada.’

Moreno was her leading man.

The two movies were shown at newly-rebuilt Life Theater in Quiapo, downtown Manila. — RKC
