MMK episode touches viewers
MANILA, Philippines - The latest episode of longest-running drama anthology in Asia — Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) of ABS-CBN — had captured the hearts of viewers who offered to help the young six siblings featured in the story.
Aired last Saturday (June 9) and hosted by veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio, the story featured young but promising actor Arjo Atayde (photo) as an unselfish teenager who served as an inspiration to his younger sister.
Arjo portrayed the role of Richard Abano, the elder in the brood of six who strived hard to escape poverty, along with his co-star Abby Bautista as Rizza, in a far-flung area of Quezon province.
The story was focused on the siblings who need to swim 200 meters across the sea and walk several kilometers just to get to school. Arjo as Richard was forced to take care of his younger brothers and sister Rizza who successfully earned a diploma. The episode also starred Lito Pimentel, Anna Capri, Makisig Morales, BJ Forbes and Crispin Pineda.
“He really amazed the viewers. The role fits him and he played it very well! A good story starred by good actors, and the result is perfect,” said Melwinna Federis of Makati City on the portrayal of Arjo.
Although considered as novice in the field of acting, Arjo has proved his worth by showing full dedication to his rising career. “You can see that Arjo is a very professional actor. He can match up with those of veteran actors with his very good performance. Actually, the first time I’ve seen him on TV, I was convinced he could be a good actor someday,” said Mildred Luzano of Tondo, Manila.
Meanwhile, in tonight’s Father’s Day episode of MMK, Matt Evans portrays the role of Tikboy, a child who, together with his siblings, grew up with an abusive and irresponsible man. MMK airs after Wansapanataym.
