SanLo, Sining, Saya at Greenbelt

-

Manila, Philippines -  It will be an enchanted evening of music as Barangay San Lorenzo presents a musical concert featuring the Philippines’ top classical and pop musicians today at the Greenbelt 5, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Titled SanLo, Sining, Saya, the event features soprano Rachelle Gerodias and the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) as they relive Filipino classics such as Paterno’s Sampaguita, Estrella’s Ang Maya, Velez’s Sa Kabukiran and Abelardo’s Mutya ng Pasig.

Conducted by Prof. Arturo Molina, the MSO will also perform Albeniz’s Asturias, Abelardo’s Sonfonietta for Strings, Molina’s Hatinggabi, Maceda’s avant garde Siasid and a medley of folk songs.

Bituin Escalante will sing Bayan Ko and songs from Levi Celerio, The Hotdogs and Juan dela Cruz Band.

The show will also bring to the fore the artistry of MSO violinist Joseph Brian Cimafranca and Namcya 2009 top prize winner pianist Lorenzo Medel with works by Beriot and Molina, respectively.

Also taking center stage is dance artist Julie de Luna Alagde, co-founder of Plana Forma, interpreting a recitation of a 1940s poem by theater actor Bart Guingona.

Brgy. San Lorenzo chairman Ernesto Moya said that as a tribute to the titans of Philippine art, segments of the concert were named after Felix Resurrecion Hidalgo, Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo, Nicanor Abelardo, Amado Hernandez, Victorio Edades, Jose Garcia Villa and Nick Joaquin.

The show, set at 8 p.m., is directed by Audie Gemora, line produced by Stages Production Specialists, curated by Marian Roces Pastor of TAO, Inc. and supervised by Bgy. San Lorenzo councilor Marlene Clarissa Po.

The event is part of the 341st founding anniversary of Makati and a prelude to the 114th Independence Day celebrations.
