Why Angelica & Derek broke up

Curtain-raisers:

• Showbiz has not only two faces but also two voices. Sample:

Actress against relative: I will never forgive her until I die.

Actress (after making up with relative): I will love her until I die.

Now, was she telling a lie in her first statement? And then, was she not telling the truth in her second statement?

• Could it be true that the ex-lovers are giving each other the cold-shoulder treatment on their show? Is there any love lost between them even now that they have found new loves? That’s another face of showbiz: one for the pleasure of the public and the other for private (pain).

• And who are the “buckle boys” who bungle up their lines (even if presumably they have teleprompters or idiot boards)? Two are Kapatid and one is a Kapuso.

Has the seven-year itch got to do with the break-up of Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban?

The couple took everybody by surprise when they called it quits just when they were entering their seventh anniversary. And to think that they were deemed to be among the very few stable steadies in showbiz!

Now, it can be told: According to a Funfare VDPA (Very Deep Penetration Agent), it was Angelica who initiated the break-up. Reason: She felt that Derek hasn’t been giving her “enough time,” concentrated as he is on his new career as a Kapatid (formerly Kapamilya), especially now that he’s being groomed by TV5 to host the Olympics in London and the Miss World-Philippines pageant (sorry, Paolo Bediones!) with Ruffa Gutierrez. Angelica herself has been very busy, so why was she complaining?

Confirming the break-up, Derek proved to be still a gentleman in his Twitter: “…There was no wasted time. I loved every minute we had for one another…” He asked everybody to respect Angelica even if he said he wasn’t proud of the break-up and wished that “things were different.”

Angelica simply said, “I’m okay,” when asked about the break-up.

Even if Derek belied the rumors that John Lloyd Cruz was the third party, it was a fact (still according to the VDPA) that John Lloyd had “enough time” for Angelica when they shot a movie in Vietnam. And I’d say, I will drink to that! John Lloyd is reportedly now a frequent visitor of Angelica at her home (with her mom). “She never lived-in with Derek,” clarified the VDPA. “She would only ‘sleep over’ in Derek’s place.”

Now, is it true that, to use an MTRCB classification, there was “parental guidance” from Shaina Magdayao’s parents when she broke up with John Lloyd (same in the case of Heart Evangelista and Daniel “Cry Baby” Matsunaga)?

It’s not sure if Angelica and John Lloyd are into a relationship. Maybe they are helping each other mend their “broken” hearts?

Anyway, I’m dedicating to them an excerpt from Ben Jonson’s circa 1616 poem Song to Celia:

Drink to me only with thine eyes

And I will pledge with mine;
