Anna: What to expect from the Twilight girl
MANILA, Philippines - In What To Expect When You’re Expecting, Anna Kendrick plays Rosie, a food-truck chef who gets pregnant by her rival Marco (played by Chace Crawford) as soon as they put business behind them and set for their very first date.
Asked how she was able to relate to the role, Anna drew laughter from the international journalists “grilling” her and Chace at the round-table session.
“How would I know?” she said in jest. “I’ve never been in that situation in real life.”
Neither has she encountered wolves or vampires with which she has been make-believe living as part of the Twilight series, including New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn Part 1.
“I wished I had,” she added.
In the same breath, she described as “out of this world” working with George Clooney in Up In The Air for which she earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination and was honored as Best Actress by The National Board of Review and Best Breakout Star at the MTV Movie Awards.
“I’m a big Clooney fan,” said Anna who had her film debut in Todd Graff’s Camp that made her a darling at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Her performance won her an Independent Spirit Award nomination and a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Annual Chlotrudis Awards. Since then, she has never stopped working.
“All I hoped for was that I would have enough work to support myself,” she said, seriously now, “and be able to pay the rent and the bills. Everything else has been an incredible surprise.”
Did the Oscar make her choosy with roles?
“Let’s put it this way: I’m happy to be in a place to do what I enjoy doing.”
Answering the same question about loss of privacy asked of Chace in the same session, Anna said, “It’s weird! Recently, I just bought a house about which I haven’t been talking about but which people found out anyway and, you know, it’s creepy finding all about it in The Net. It’s a weird situation to be in.”
After What To Expect When You’re Expecting, Anna will be seen next in Dylan Kidd’s Get A Job, a comedy opposite Bryan Cranston.
