Absolute Play in UK Pub

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - OPM bands can be found performing in different parts of the world, but it is definitely so rare for a young, upstart band to be invited to perform in a 200-year-old pub called Queens Arm Biggar Pub located in Barrow, Cumbria, England. Yet, it happened to Absolute Play.

Absolute Play is a young, fresh, raw indie-band composed of Murielle, 12 years old on lead vocals and keyboards; Alto, 13, on lead guitar; and Mato, 17, on drums and the chief songwriter of the pack. Indeed, the band is that young and it plays honest-to-goodness “kid-punk” music sprinkled with huge doses of fun, good vibes, and good values.

This “kid punk” group, Absolute Play has just returned from a UK tour. This marks its first-ever international performance of five songs from its album. It was a Tuesday acoustic jamming night together with other local British musicians, last April 24. David Marcus introduced the band to a crowd of all-British nationals. Aside from showcasing its music, Absolute Play also took it as an opportunity to promote its advocacy in its Kids Helping Kids campaign, for the benefit of the Little Hands Foundation. You can catch footage of its UK performance at Facebook.com/absoluteplay.

Absolute Play’s five songs EP is now released online at www.mymusicstore.com.ph, with the CD format due for release soon at leading record stores. The music video of its carrier single My Old Pal can already be viewed on YouTube. Proceeds from the album sales will go to the Little Hands Foundation as part of its Kids Helping Kids campaign.
