Willie Nep back in form

LIVE FEED - Bibsy M. Carballo -

Known for his witty impersonations of Erap, Dolphy, former presidentiables Manny Villar, Richard Gordon and Gibo Teodoro, there is simply no stopping Willie Nepomuceno. On May 26 at 8:30 p.m., he unfolds Willie Nep ON TRIAL & ...ERrORat the Music Museum where he “interviews” senator-judge Juan Ponce-Enrile and others during the ongoing Corona Impeachment Trial.

Willie Nep promises that both prosecution and defense panels will be represented as he tackles this on-going teleserye. Defense lead counsel, retired Justice Serafin Cuevas, will debut as Willie’s new character, while he renews ties with Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile (JPE) whom he did in 1969, and in 1986 during the People Power Revolt with Fidel Ramos and Gringo Honasan. A new twist this time is for Willie to show the aging process of JPE as presiding officer of the impeachment court.

Excerpts from his virtual conversation with JPE:

Willie as P-Noy with belly dancer Alyna

They say you were the prime architect of Martial Law.

“Not true. I finished law, not architecture.”

You ran for the presidency in 1998 but lost to Erap. Why do you think that happened?

“Simple arithmetic. Ang pinakamagaling na pangkuha ng boto ng isang kandidato ay ang kanyang asawa. My wife Cristina won a lot of votes for me. Problem was, isa lang asawa ko, si Erap… you do the math.”

The session will not be complete without witnesses to testify. We expect Willie’s friends Erap, Dolphy, even Pacman, all “crown” bearers and expert witnesses.

So what else is new? P-Noy, of course, with his target shooting, sports cars, smoking, biking, OPM and jazz. But nothing would interest the public more than his love life!

Doesn’t the picture speak for itself? The sexy girl’s name is Alyna, a would-be chef, a yoga practitioner, a recording artist and yes, a belly dancer. And that’s P-Noy’s new love — belly dancing!

Fish of Hope by Dr. Marichu Liwag Carstensen

Kids from indigent families hold art exhibit

Anyone who knows Dr. Marichu Liwag Carstensen from Lipa will certainly be familiar with her being a multi-talented workaholic, who’s busy with her decorative candle-designing business, her sport of golf, her passion for painting and her advocacy of teaching children aged two to eight at summer workshops.

She is also a medical doctor, a mountaineer and a friend. She loves her hometown of Lipa and will not exchange it for any other, which is why her Danish husband Morten Carstensen found himself becoming more and more a Batangueño, and less and less a Dane.

After years of mentoring kids of indigent families from Barangay Inosluban every summer, she will be bringing their works outside of Lipa for the first time in celebration of the 15th year of LYAC (Lipeño Youth Art Club). Billed as HAPPINAS for Happy Pilipinas, the exhibit of some 50 artworks in various media starting tomorrow, May 12, until May 19 at the Sining Kamalig Gallery, fourth level of Gateway Mall, Araneta Center, Cubao, celebrates the joy and happiness the Filipino exudes everywhere, whether young or old, rich or poor.

Happy Ride by Marinela Valencia

Proceeds from the sales will help finance the children’s education. Opening cocktails are scheduled tomorrow at 4 p.m. For details on the LYAC, call 0926-7492044.
