The man behind The Library
MANILA, Philippines - Andrew de Real (photo), also known as Mamu, has been in the industry of live comedy shows for more than a decade now. The brains behind The Library and mentor to stand-up comedians and artists, graduated from Adamson University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting.
In college, Andrew spent his free time in theater arts, attending workshops in Bulwagang Gantimpala, Nayong Pilipino and Adamson University Renaissance Universal Playhouse (AURUP) where he became artistic director and vice president of the said Theater group.
Six months after college graduation, he opened The Library with a vision of helping aspiring artists and comedians.
He writes comic scripts and directs them himself. Using his expertise in theater and business, The Library grew from a small box to a legitimate entertainment venue and Andrew gained respect from the business and entertainment world.
He has done many comedy shows such as Ai-vita (featuring Ai-Ai delas Alas); Animasia (a comic spoof of Walt Disney characters); Big Nose at the Big Dome (first major concert of Allan K); the longest-running comedy show, Si Nura at Si Velma which launched the careers of Allan K and Lenard Obal; Rock the Vote; Poohkwang; and Four The Best featuring Pooh, K Brosas Chocoleit and Pokwang. It will have a repeat tonight and on May 11 and 12 at the Music Museum.
In spite of his achievements, Andrew remains humble and continues his goal to hone new talents.
If it’s a live comedy show, it must be Mamu, the live comedy director as we call him now for all the success of his comedy shows. He never fails to make us laugh and have fun to watch his every show.
