Exciting future ahead for OPM

MANILA, Philippines - OPM2Go chairman Ogie Alcasid along with technology partner OksPinoy recently unveiled the new website OPM2Go.com via a grand launch at Eastwood Citywalk.

Joined by no less than President Noynoy Aquino, the singer-songwriter unveiled the site hailed as the future for Filipino music. Taking part in the ceremony were National Commission for Culture and the Arts chairman, Prof. Felipe de Leon; Kathleen Dy Go of Universal Records; and JG Puno CEO of OPM2Go and OksPinoy, Inc.

The program included a keynote address by Ogie, a live demonstration of OPM2Go.com and performances by notable artists and bands in support of Filipino music. A 15-piece orchestra by Philbanda provided the live cocktail music. During the program proper, Ogie was joined on stage by artists of different backgrounds and genres, including Jim Paredes, Jaya and Jett Pangan. Indie rock, electronica, hip-hop, R&B and folk rock were also represented in performances by Rannie Raymundo, Techy Romantics, Skarm, Arko Kenjhons, Mike Swift, and guitar legend Noel Mendez.

“The music industry has been very good to me, and I think that OPM2Go is a great way for me to give back and help the next generation of musicians and artists,” said Ogie. “I hope that both the industry as well as music lovers will realize that we are trying to do more than just sell songs, but also want to be part of something bigger than we can imagine. I believe that we’ve only scratched the surface of what can be achieved through the marriage of music and Internet technology.”

OPM2Go.com is an online store dedicated to serving Filipino artists, musicians and music lovers. It celebrates all forms of Filipino music. OPM2Go’s goal is to one day become the online repository for all Filipino music. It aims to help the Filipino music industry by providing a distribution avenue for artists, bands and musicians so that they may be able to reach a broader audience. Through this new distribution avenue, artists and musicians will be able to economically and rapidly release their material. In addition, OPM2Go allows access to varying demographics of end users by offering the users the opportunity to take part in the new OPM experience through various technology platforms.

The OPM2Go.com launch was, co-presented by Smart and SmartBro and sponsored by Coca-Cola, Tanduay, Magic 89.9 FM, A Shop, Eastwood City, Viva, Vicor, Universal Records and 20 Plus Productions.
