Why Cesar looks hearty & happy

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -

Always, it is a new experience having old friends in The Buzz.

Cesar Montano looked hearty and happy when he guested on the show last week. He has a new movie, The Hitman  which he produced, directed and starred in. He just arrived from a trip to New York with wife Sunshine Cruz which was both business and pleasure. “Kaming dalawa lang,” he said. Cesar met up with The Weinstein Company where he pitched stories he co-wrote with Donald Martin, the movie Getting To America, which Cesar will direct and star in. It’s a dramedy about a Filipino who will do everything to get his American visa.

The trip afforded the couple time to bond together. It was “us time” for both of them. Like most couples, they are not immune to quarrels. What keeps the “fire burning” in their relationship is “consistent talking.” “It’s very dangerous when you don’t understand each other,” Cesar added.

In The Hitman (which opened in theaters this week), Cesar plays a hired killer who wants to get out of his dark life and move towards a more meaningful existence. His son Diego joins him in the movie and instead of using Loyzaga, he is now using Montano as his surname. “Nagpaalam naman ako. The first time na nagkita kami sa Australia, Diego asked me ‘Dad, pwede tayo magsama sa film?’”

Cesar is all praises for Diego who is now with ABS-CBN. “Malakas ang loob. I’m very proud of him.” Cesar knows that Diego has an exciting future in the business. “Bago ko pa lang siya nakakasama. I am happy with the way things are. Dumating siya na medyo mature na si Buboy,” Cesar smiled. (Buboy is how Cesar is called by his close friends and family.)

Cesar turned emotional when he spoke about his late son Angelo. The pain of losing a son is still there. “I don’t have the wisdom to deal with it. I avoid talking about it.  Dasal lang ang nagpapagaling sa akin to be whole again. I cannot bring back the life of my son.”

Had Angelo been around he would have been in The Hitman. “Pag masama ang loob ko, siya yong alalay sa akin. He really was a great loss to me. Angelo, I love you very much. How can I argue with the beautiful situation you are in, you’re with God. Dito, kasama mo ang imperfect na tatay.”

Wisdom has crept into Cesar’s heart. It would be exciting to watch The Hitman.

Sarah goes live

Tomorrow, Feb. 26, Sarah Geronimo will launch her own show Sarah G Live with co-hosts Luis Manzano and Gab Valenciano. No, she did not ask for a solo show because she doesn’t get along with other stars of A.S.A.P.,  the ABS-CBN Sunday musical variety show. “Okey na po kami lahat. Happy kami,” Sarah said.

Sarah also vehemently denied that she is jealous  of Angeline Quinto. “Angeline inspires me. She reminds me of my humble beginnings.”  It is also not true that she is taking over the time slot Gandang Gabi Vice or that she backed out from guesting in the Araneta show of Vice. “Nasa USA po ako noon.”

Sarah is blooming. There’s sparkle in her eyes, especially when the conversation is about Gerald. Did she go out on date with Gerald on Valentine’s Day? “Grupo po kami noon. Kasama si Mommy.”

In most interviews, Gerald has been very vocal about Sarah being “special.”  “Siempre, espesyal din sa akin si Gege.” Sarah replied.

But how true is it that Mommy Divine is closely guarding her? “Hindi po. Nakakatuwa si Gege, ini-invite ang pamilya ko,” said Sarah.

And putting all speculations to rest about the real score between her and Gerald, Sarah emphatically announced, “Hindi po kami. Walang nangyayaring ligawan. Dapat sa lalaki ang magsasabi niyan.”

And calling out Gerald, Sarah enthused, “Gege, no pressure.”

And I agree with Sarah. If an announcement is to be made, it should come from Gerald Anderson.

We shall be waiting with bated breath, Ge!
