What's keeping Cupid busy these days

MANILA, Philippines - Cupid must be stressed out these days, shooting arrows into the air and, voila, finding their marks, unlike what the poet said about shooting arrows into the air that fell to earth he knew not where.

Item One: Sorry to be a wet blanket on his 52nd birthday today but my favorite manghuhula (who doesn’t go around in a turban) said that Pres. Noynoy Aquino’s much-publicized dates with TV host Grace Lee might fizzle out before they could lead to a lasting relationship.

Said the manghuhula, “Grace is much too talkative for comfort and it could be a turn-off for the President’s sisters and other members of the family. Women previously linked to P-Noy were very quiet — including bold starlet and former councilor Barbara Milano, Korina Sanchez (now Mrs. Mar Roxas), Bernadette Sembrano (now Mrs. Emilio Aguinaldo), Liz Uy, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad (now Mrs. Roman Romulo) and even Iza Calzado (whom P-Noy only casually met at a showbiz event) — unlike Grace who is fond of giving interviews left and right, enjoying her 15 minutes of presidential fame.”

A Funfare DPA said that Grace is requesting for a PSG (Presidential Security Guard) of her own and I think she deserves one, being a prospective (but not necessarily probable/preferable) First Lady, don’t you think, too?

Item Two: Niña Jose insisted that Vic Sotto (now happily if “secretly” going steady with Eat, Bulaga! co-host Pauleen Luna) did give her gifts towards the end of 2011, including a precious scapular which, Niña said Vic told her, “came from his mom’s collection.” Niña and Vic became so cozily familiar on the set of TV5’s The Jose & Wally Show that she has been used to calling him Marvic (his real full first name). Asked if she was sure that her “Marvic” was courting her, Niña said, “Nagpaparamdam siguro.” At last Thursday’s Battle of the Champions finals (contestants were soldiers…more on them soon), Niña was escorted by a handsome guy. “My boyfriend,” she introduced the guy to us, who turned out to be Joseph Calata of the family-owned Calata Corporation (engaged in agriculture). Niña proudly revealed that they’ve been going steady since Dec. 31 last year.

Hmmmm, did Joseph Calata beat “Marvic” to the draw?

Item Three: Has Miss Universe fourth runner-up Venus Raj finally found love in the person of Andrei Felix, her segment co-host in the early-morning ABS-CBN show Umagang Kay Ganda? “It seems so,” said somebody close to Venus, “but she’s not yet ready to admit it that’s why they are careful about being seen together in public.” Andrei was once linked to Jennylyn Mercado before she got into that messy romance with Dennis Trillo.
