The Blounge: Classic and high-tech

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Tweet while having your manicure-pedicure. Check your Facebook while having your hair done. E-mail friends while having your legs waxed.

Do these all at the first high-tech salon in the metro — The Blounge or The Beauty Lounge.

Newly opened on the fateful date of Nov. 11, 2011 (11.11.11), The Blounge immediately attracted prominent personalities like ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, author Michael Angelo Lobrin and news anchor Gerry Baja.

“The opening went well. Despite the bulk of events due to the date 11.11.11, several of our friends were still able to make it to our grand opening,” said Rossel Velasco-Taberna, managing director of OBM Events, the company behind Blounge.

The opening started with a ribbon-cutting and balloon-popping. Cocktails were served until 9 p.m. while ASAP Sessionista Gail Blanco provided acoustic entertainment for the members of the press and the bloggers who had free pampering. Twenty guests won beauty kits and gift certificates, and a lucky winner got a Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Rossel personally thought of the concept of a techie beauty lounge because she herself is an “always-online person” who needs to constantly be updated with her businesses. Rossel is always torn between having herself pampered and working in her office, so she came up with the idea of the Blounge.

“I always have a need for gadgets and a fast WiFi connection and I know that many people are like me, too. At The Blounge, you can still get updated with your online business and social life while having your nails and hair done,” shared the wife of ABS-CBN news anchor Anthony Taberna. Anthony is all-out in his support for The Blounge.

The Blounge beams of “classic comforts and hi-tech savvy” and promises a beauty experience like no other. The salon techie salon understands today’s fast-paced, always-online lifestyle and offers a place to pause and de-stress from the daily demands of life, while keeping clients up-to-date with their work or social activities online.

Besides its skilled stylists, make-up artists and nail technicians who are trained by hair and beauty expert Lourd Ramos, the Blounge is also proud of its professional customer service as well as affordable services.

A relaxing foot spa at the Blounge only goes for P350 — very easy on the pocket. The rest of its services — haircut, hair color, hair treatment, make-up, hair styling, and pampering that includes spa and waxing services — are all reasonably-priced.

“Aside from the free use of Internet and gadgets, you can be sure that you get quality service from all our professional staff. We also offer free coffee and iced tea to all our guests,” Rossel added.
