Jed Madela goes way Beyond Expectations

MANILA, Philippines - Fans of Jed Madela anticipated that the World Champion would surpass all expectations in his Beyond Expectations concert held last Nov. 26. However, the whole Cultural Center of the Philippines apparently was still astounded with his seemingly limitless talent as a vocalist, prodding everyone to give him a thunderous standing ovation after around 16 flawless musical numbers.

He strongly opened the concert with a mash-up of Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life and Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory. He then segued into a rendition of Adele’s hit Rolling in the Deep and the Carpenter’s Superstar.

Around two hours after the opening, Jed proved that he is beyond human performing what may seem the most difficult repertoire ever assembled for a mortal.

He performed a rousing Jesus Christ Superstar suite, the Christmas piece Munting Sanggol with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and a medley of Josh Groban hits with mezzo soprano Clarissa Ocampo, and his latest single Breathe Again.

Known to be the country’s finest male belter, Jed loosened up in his jazzy interpretation of Aegis’ Luha, and in the playful current hits medley of Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, Justin Bieber’s Baby and Bruno Mars’ Grenade.

Another highlight was Jed’s memorable interpretation of a medley of OPM hits — Afterimage’s Next In Line and Habang May Buhay, Eraserheads’ Ang Huling El Bimbo and Freddie Aguilar’s Anak.

Beyond Expectations also gathered the best in the industry — Maestro Ryan Cayabyab as musical director, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, Concert King Martin Nievera and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

Jed shared rare, unforgettable musical moments with Ogie (Ikaw Lamang, Kailangan Kita mash-up), Martin (medley of Chicago hits featuring You’re The Inspiration, Glory of Love, Hard Habit to Break and Hard To Say I’m Sorry), and Gary (a string of Gary’s hits — ‘Di Na Natuto, Gaya ng Dati, Narito, Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos).

Ogie, Martin and Gary, all members of OPM, royalty acknowledged how incredibly gifted Jed is as a singer.

Spotted during the concert were John Lloyd Cruz, Shaina Magdayao, Jessy Mendiola, Richard Poon and Dulce.

Beyond Expectations, produced by Artefice and Recordbreaker, was Jed’s first major concert and he blew everyone away already with his talent.

The concert was a mean feat for the World Champion, but with his immense gifts, Jed is raring to go even further beyond what people expect of him as a singer in his next concert outings.
