Fund-raising show for the visually-impaired
MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim will induct the board of directors and officers of the Ambassadors of Light Foundation, Inc., with former Sen. Dr. Helena Benitez as special guest during its fund-raising concert Dream of My Heart, Part II on Nov. 28, 7 p.m. at the Philamlife Auditorium UN Ave., Manila.
The AOL is a choral group composed of visually-impaired but musically talented children and young adults led by its founder, Anderson Go, an unsighted graduate of the School of Music of The Philippine Women’s University (PWU).
In congratulating the singing group, Mayor Lim said, “The dream of Go to see his fellow visually-impaired build their confidence and develop their talents is certainly encouraging for everyone.”
The PWU board chairperson Dr. Benitez, who is herself partially blind, said, “I have not allowed the physical impairment to deprive me of vision. The AOL (members) are visually-impaired, but they see with their hearts and act with their entire spirituality and humanity.”
Guest performing artists are Laarni Lozada and the Philippine National School for the Blind Dance Troupe.
The unsighted singers, whose age ranges from 14 to 29, will render inspirational songs, the best of Andrew Lloyd Webber compositions, popular foreign songs and OPM (Original Pilipino Music).
Proceeds of the concert will go to the foundation’s scholarship program.
Dream of My Heart is produced by AOL under the direction of Belly Chua, Anderson Go as musical director, Gloria Jamandre and Allan Choa, choreographers.
