Children of Bodom's Alexi Laiho in PULP's Oct. issue

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pinoy heavy metal fans will once again rejoice and proudly throw their horned-hands high, as PULP Live Productions is all-set to bring in Finland’s most revolutionary heavy metal act Children of Bodom in November to the country. Yes, it’s confirmed. The platinum record-selling group (dubbed as “The Hate Crew” by its legion of loyal fans worldwide), is officially “one of Finland’s best-selling artists of all time” and recently released its seventh full-length studio album Relentless Reckless Forever, which they are currently supporting throughout the globe via The Ugly World Tour. Tickets are now on sale.

Which is precisely why PULP Magazine is preparing its faithful readers for the incoming onslaught next month via an exclusive cover story about the band. Staff writer Karen Sy recounts her first live experience watching the band all the way in Hawaii, and gets a one-in-a-million chance to interview guitarist Laiho, who lays down the details about the band’s latest studio opus, life on the road and the band’s excitement to come to Manila, among other details no fan would dare want to miss.

Of course, that’s just one of the big features readers will definitely enjoy in this issue. For fans of a different kind of heavy, local pro-rock supergroup Fuseboxx are also put in the spotlight, having released their internationally acclaimed second outing Animated. Fans of technically proficient musicians playing musically gratifying masterpieces of sonic bliss won’t have to wait any longer as the veteran group, led by their equally charming and skilled vocalist/instrumentalist Abby Clutario, recounts both the recording process of the album and the outfit’s transition from musical genres.

Meanwhile, light jazz listeners will welcome the disarming and vocally gifted Tricia Garcia, MCA Music, Inc.’s latest wonder to join their roster of talents, as she offers up a full-length of her own. Recently, Tricia had the honor of opening for pop sensation Lenka during her one-night-only performance in Manila, also produced by PULP Live Productions. PULP music editor Cris Ramos writes her story.

But it’s not just about bands and singers this month: PULP is also proud to unveil two features, one being about the upcoming Stagg Music Awards — the newest awards show spearheaded by local music company, The Music Source, which aims to support local music’s most-liked talents by the current generation of music fans. Also, in celebration of the upcoming Halloween festivities, PULP comes up with a fun feature, Spirits In The Bar, wherein tales of supernatural activity in our local favorite rock joints are shared by members and staff of their respective managements, plus more than a few stories that will surely make your Halloween more exciting and extra creepy. Turns out, maybe ghosts really do like to rock ’n roll all day, and especially all night.

As always, there’s more valuable content inside the pages of this month’s PULP, from the most reliable music reviews section to coverage of the most important and happening events around town. And for all music fans, don’t forget to spread the word that Children of Bodom is coming to Manila. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketnet, Ticketworld and SM Tickets outlets, for an early bird rate of P2,500 for VIP section and P1,500 for general admission.
