Munting Heredera grants boy's wish
MANILA, Philippines - GMA 7’s Munting Heredera makes a boy’s dream come true by featuring him in the teledrama.
The show introduces viewers to the character of Allen, Stanley (played by Bobby Andrews) and Kate Lobregat’s (Andrea del Rosario) son. Allen is played by Jesus Ramon “Monmon” Domingo, a 12-year-old boy born with cerebral palsy, a neurological condition which affects a person’s motor development.
He was first discovered in a noontime show by Munting Heredera director Maryo J. delos Reyes, where Monmon expressed his dream of appearing on a television show. As if the role was especially created for him, Monmon finally got his wish when direk Maryo recommended that GMA should get him for the part of Allen, instead of hiring an actor.
Aside from helping Monmon realize his dream, the series also aims to raise awareness for and inspire those afflicted with cerebral palsy, and children with disabilities. Despite his handicap, Monmon, being part of Munting Heredera, shows that children with disabilities are capable of leading a full life and should be given equal opportunities.
A grade six student at De La Salle Arellano University, Monmon‘s character will also play an important role in making viewers see the characters in the story from a different perspective.
With Bobby Andrews and Andrea del Rosario In stark contrast to Sandra (Camille Prats), who shows unconditional love for Jennifer (Mona Louise Rey) and Michelle (Kyle Danielle Ocampo), Kate (Andrea del Rosario) depicts a mother who still hasn’t come to terms with her child’s condition. Same is true for Ingrid (Boots Anson-Roa), who despite her brave front, turns vulnerable for her only grandchild.
Munting Heredera airs weekdays after Amaya on GMA Telebabad.
