Sam celebrates a decade in showbiz

MANILA, Philippines - A lot of things can happen in 10 years. One can be introduced to showbiz via the musical theater production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, then star in a hit sinigang mix commercial, then adjudged Brightest Star on ABS-CBN’s Little Big Star, and then launched as one of the young leading men of the Kapamilya Network via the series Good Vibes and movie Way Back Home.

This is the story of Sam Concepcion’s first decade in showbiz.

“It has been an exciting journey for me. My heart is filled with gratitude for all the blessings,” says Sam. “I have been through a lot of things in the past decade, and I am very thankful that the love of the people around me constantly serves as my guide and inspiration.”

Sam is celebrating his 10th showbiz anniversary by topbilling the STAGES and Repertory Philippines production of Peter Pan, which goes onstage from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30, at the Meralco Theater.

Peter Pan further establishes Sam as the youngest theater royalty having topbilled The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, NOAH and High School Musical.

This production is also the first time that this version of Peter Pan, written by Stiles and Drewe and the late Willis Hall, will be staged in Asia. It relives Sir James Barrie’s timeless tale of the boy who never grew up.

Aside from Sam, Peter Pan also stars Michael Williams as Hook, and ABS-CBN’s rising star Tippy Dos Santos (Idol, Shoutout) as Wendy with Cara Barredo as alternate. Jaime del Mundo and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo direct this production.

“Theater will always be something I’ll always go back to,” declares this STAGES talent. “It is through musicals that I get to showcase my singing, dancing and acting all at the same time. For Peter Pan, aside from those I have mentioned, I will also exhibit my ‘flying’ skills.”

Indeed, Sam is one of the few stars of his generation who may be considered a triple threat. In fact, he has already starred in series like Super Inggo, Walang Kapalit, Boystown and I Love Betty La Fea, movies like Shake, Rattle & Roll 9 and Cinco, and two successful solo concerts.

He, who served as front act for Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, has also released two albums from Universal Records.

Sam, top Candy Cutie for the past five years, is still a regular in ASAP Rocks.

In celebration of his 10th anniversary, Sam will also launch his newest single Forever Young, originally performed by Alphaville, in ASAP Rocks this month. Its music video will premiere on MYX middle of this month. Forever Young is produced by Universal Records.
