'70s Relived! at Teatrino

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - There was a time during the ’70s when the nightlife of the trendy upscale Pinoy revolved entirely around the clubs on Roxas Blvd., Eduardo’s the Flames or Wells Fargo.

Dominating the entertainment scene during that time were The New Minstrels and Circus Band — pioneers of the ’70s Manila Sound.

Past forward to the year 2011. A handful of the excellent singers who carved their niche in the music industry during this time from The New Minstrels and The Circus Band are back for a concert that will definitely be the musical event of the year.

’70s Relived! features the unique combination of jazz greats Jacqui Magno, Pat Castillo and Tillie Moreno of The Circus Band with Ding Mercado and Eugene Villaluz of The New Minstrels. All five took time out from their busy lives to indulge themselves and be part of a spectacular musical reunion on stage.

To be held at the Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills on two consecutive Saturdays, Aug. 20 and 27, ’70s Relived, produced by The Nerve of ERV Entertainment, Inc., will walk you down memory lane with the a repertoire that include ’70s medley featuring Best of My Love, Touch Me in the Morning, You’ll Never Find, You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, The Way We Planned It and September.

Of course you will also hear the famous duets popularized by the original singers themselves, such as Umagang Kay Ganda, I Don’t Love You Anymore plus the individual hits of each singer; Saan Ako Nagkamali by Tillie, Aso’t Pusa by Pat, Laging Buhay and Buhay by Jacqui, See you There by Ding and Gulong Ng Palad by Eugene.

Tickets are available at the Music Museum and Teatrino box-office and at all Ticketworld outlets. The Aug. 27 show is presented by UERMMED ’84 Alumni Foundation, Inc. and Crossover 105.1.
