Puregold supports PNRC campaign

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As part of its corporate social responsibility and to help thousands of dengue victims, Puregold recently conducted a mass blood donation activity in collaboration with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

The campaign has collected a total of 52 units of blood from Puregold employees from different departments. Each blood unit will benefit two to three blood recipients.

PNRC expressed its gratitude for the generosity of Puregold employees, as this will contribute in its advocacy to save thousands of lives that are affected by dengue and other diseases.

“We are thankful to Puregold for its big help in our campaign to help thousands of dengue victims who need immediate blood transfusion,” a PNRC representative said.

In the same way, Puregold felt privileged as the event led them to partially fulfill its mission to help humanity in time of great need.

Due to the rising number of dengue cases in the country, PNRC recently intensified its information dissemination campaign against the disease and the promotion of voluntary blood donation.

From January to July this year, Red Cross has reached out to a total of 23,559 individuals on health awareness and has led communities in the clean-up drive activities. More than 500 Red Cross 143 volunteers, mostly nurses, have been mobilized in affected areas to conduct health education drive and distribute information materials in the community.

Male or female ages 18 to 65 with clean bill of health and weighs at least 50 kilos can donate blood. Women who are pregnant cannot give blood. Those under the influence of drug or alcohol and those who were tattooed within the year cannot give blood. Also those with high or low blood pressure, low hemoglobin and those experiencing sleepless nights may not temporarily give blood until they have regained their good health.
