He was the last Mr. Pogi winner in Eat, Bulaga!’s “male beauty contest.” He stands 5’8”, weighs 138 lbs., and wears size-30 briefs and size-9 shoes. He started doing commercials (for Milo, Star Margarine, Alaska, etc.) at age seven and joined showbiz as member of the ABS-CBN dance group Anime (with Rayver Cruz, John Wayne Sace and Eman Abeleda) which lasted for more than three years and then a trio called Sakto (with Rodjun Cruz and Lucky Mark Mercado) built up by Sony Music. Atalia.

As Noel, the movie’s producer tells it, the story of Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me revolves around Karl Vladimir Lennon J. Villalobos, a.k.a. Intoy (played by Edgar), who is secretly in love with his friend Jenny (Mercedes Cabral, voted Most Beautiful Actress in Cannes three years ago, who starred in, among other Dante Brillante films, Serbis which was Brillante’s debut film at the Cannes Filmfest a year before he bagged the Best Director award for Kinatay).

Intoy is street-smart and ordinary, while Jenny is rich and quirky, looked up to as the most beautiful girl on campus. Jenny agrees to go to bed with Intoy on one condition — that they will not fall in love with each other. Before graduation, Intoy professes his love for Jenny and is devastated by the turn of events.

The presskit describes the film “an examination of post-modern love and relationship, and the way this generation deals with love and fear.”

Regal Matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde was so impressed with Edgar’s performance that she signed him to an exclusive multi-picture deal.

“I’m learning a lot from these young, dynamic and very creative people,” said Mother Lily, referring to indie artists. “I’m giving them my all-out support.”

Edgar has no qualms about doing “bold and daring” scenes, such as those in Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me (derived from a person’s abbreviated text message to his/her partner to take a bath already and be ready for, well, you know what).
