Amaya's South Luzon road show a success

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In line with Amaya’s continuous reign on Primetime TV, GMA Network with its stars invaded the Southern part of Luzon, recently, offering live performances and fun activities for the Kapuso enthusiasts. The Amaya road show was certainly a moment to be remembered as GMA made its presence exceptionally felt among the people of Batangas and Laguna.

The road show kicked off on a fine morning of July 22 with a Kapuso Mall Show at SM City Lipa, featuring the cast of Amaya  headlined by Marian Rivera.

Thousands of supporters stood up in their seats and screamed their hearts out with joy as Wendell Salgado and the Asia’s Songbird impersonator Ate Reg introduced the cast — Marian, Sid Lucero, Mikael Daez, Glaiza de Castro, Rochelle Pangilinan, Roxanne Barcelo, Dion Ignacio, AJ Dee and Pancho Magno to perform in their production numbers.

Despite the sudden downpour, the heat of Amaya fever remained as the crowd was given the rare opportunity to be close with their favorite stars for the Kapuso Meet and Greet at SM City Batangas. Marian voluntarily knelt on the floor to sign the banner of one of her fans. According to her, the warmth of the Batangueños’ receptiveness was something she did not expect. “Unexpected na ganun ka-init ang pagtanggap nila sa amin. Masaya sila at masaya rin kami dahil nagustuhan nila ang aming pagbisita sa kanila,” she says.

More exciting events happened at the eve of the Sublian Festival Parada sa Kalye when the Amaya cast doubled its performances’ intensity at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum in front of a cheering audience. The event became more meaningful as notable key persons such as the city’s past and incumbent mayors and counselors graced the Sublian Festival’s Kapuso Night.

On July 23, the road show was in full swing beginning in the morning with the Kapuso Sublian Festival Parada sa Kalye participation. Hours before the parade, the Batangueños with their digital cameras, caps and umbrellas patiently waited for the Kapuso stars under the heat.

The crowd cheered as each artist behind the characters of Amaya, this time with Sheena Halili, got out of the van and boarded their float. Everybody enjoyed the chance to see the Kapuso stars who gave away Amaya shirts.

“We’re very happy that our Kapusong Batangueños enjoyed the latest treat of the Kapuso Network. Nakakataba ng puso to see thousands of people flocked to the Batangas City Sports Coliseum for the Kapuso Night and those who stood at the roadside either cheered or rushed to the Karakoa-inspired Kapuso float that carried the cast of Amaya during the Parade at Sublian sa Kalye,” says Oliver Amoroso, AVP for GMA Regional TV.

Meanwhile, Kris Bernal and Rocco Nacino appeared at the People’s Quadrangle for the Sublian Festival’s Patimpalak Sublian sa Batangas where they invited the people to watch the Sunday variety show Party Pilipinas and their upcoming danserye titled Time of My Life. It was amazing to see how their appearance brought pandemonium among the teenagers who comprised the crowd that afternoon.

Later that day, Kapuso fans at the SM City Batangas felt an added dose of excitement upon seeing Marian’s boyfriend Dingdong Dantes for another mall show. With him were Jolina Magdangal, Katrina and Pekto who served as the event’s host.

Capping GMA 7’s South Luzon Amaya invasion was the Kapuso Mall Show in SM City San Pablo.

Remembering their experience during the South Luzon road show, Dion and Mikael share that the happiness they felt brought by the people’s support for the work that they do was something they look forward to every time they hold regional shows.
