Edgar marks '5' in special way

The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines - After guesting in Hey, It’s Saberdey, Edgar Allan Guzman, who first got attention as the last Mr. Pogi grand winner, stars on TV5’s The Sisters. He is also the featured artist in Star Confessions on Wednesday with his life story topbilled by his first “showbiz employer” Joross Gamboa — for whom he served as backup dancer five years ago.

In the movies, Edgar has starred in drama projects where he has proven his mettle as a promising actor. He has acted alongside Robin Padilla, Dennis Trillo and Sid Lucero and even got the critics’ nod for his performance in Astig, which brought him from the Cinemalaya stage to Pusan International Film Festival in Korea and the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan. He was also nominated as Best Supporting Actor in 2009 Pasado Awards.

Last year, Edgar tackled the difficult two-character film Magdamag opposite Rita Avila. The movie became part of the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema section of last year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.

For this year, his Cinemalaya streak continues with two films: Bisperas by Jeffrey Jeturian (Director’s Showcase) and Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me by Erick Salud (New Breed Category).

He has also recently released his fifth anniversary collection of songs as inspired by his Cinemalaya entries titled Edgar Allan Guzman: Breakthrough, now available in Astrovision and Odyssey branches nationwide.

Edgar says that he always tries to be at his best in everything he does. The TV5 talent has really come a long way — and from the looks of it, he is poised to chart new heights in his career.
