Bianca enjoys her dream role

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Playing one’s dream role on her biggest project to date is like being set-up for a winning shot. That’s why Bianca King is getting applause for delivering well in a most crucial moment. The double-kick obviously favors her considering she gets to showcase her skill to the fullest at such a perfect time.

Her portrayal of Noemi Manansala in the much-talked about afternoon soap Sinner or Saint is both a big challenge and a big blessing for the graduating film student of La Salle-St. Benilde. Her prevailing feeling in doing such a job is utter fulfillment.

She has intelligent reasons as to why. “It’s so fulfilling because I get to tap into a wide range of emotions and acting skills I’ve never been able to show before in one project alone. The role of Noemi is easily any actresses’ dream role,” she said, noting she gets to be naked for the role.

She elaborated, “What I love most about my role is how raw I can portray it. I’m not hidden behind make-up, dolled up in fancy costumes or set in an extravagant studio to aid my acting and the story. It’s all honest-to-goodness raw acting.”

In the said suspense-drama series which started airing last June 13 (replacing Nita Negrita) on GMA 7, Bianca stars with Dennis Trillo, Alessandra de Rossi and Polo Ravales in what is proving to be a tale of love and sacrifice surrounding the life of sweet, young Noemi imprisoned by fate and consequences of her unconditional love for childhood friend Raul played by Dennis. She stated that she’s “happy working with a set of actors who know how much the project means” especially to her.

Putting logic on why Sinner Or Saint is relatable, she expounded, “We’re very different from the fantastical soap stories that depict an alternate universe. We depict Filipino reality or the socio-political issues that the common person, poor or rich, encounters in life.”

In the midst of her getting dehydrated for “constantly crying” as required by the script, the actress realizes the advantage of having experiences as a music video director herself. In fact, she gets to talk in film terms when sharing her suggestions to director Don Michael Perez.

On working with Don, she said, “We easily get on each others’ wavelength and it’s nice I can comprehend easily what he wants from me. He is also a writer and I am, at my core, a writer. So I think that’s why we are able to think the same way. He gives me extra direction where I need it but he also lets me have artistic freedom.”

Some of Bianca’s past teleserye projects involvement were Illumina, The Last Prince, Zorro and Dyesebel. She is also in the cast of Captain Barbell set to end this month.

Of what should viewers look for in her character, the GMA Artist Center talent revealed, “Noemi gets a little angrier and starts asking for payback. People will get the impression that she will become a tougher character but Raul once again finds his way back in her life and gets the best of her.”
