Nuvali's Project: Green Home now a reality on Realty TV

The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines - As more and more Filipinos have developed a renewed concern for the environment, Nuvali and ABS-CBN News Channel’s Realty TV unveiled Project: Green Home last May 11; a much-anticipated showcase of sustainable living and development which garnered a warm welcome from the public. To the uninformed, sustainable design and development is a practice of increasing a site’s or a building’s efficiency in terms of how it uses energy, water and other materials; as well as reducing the building’s impact effects on one’s health and on the environment during the entire life cycle of the said building. Eco-efficient and sustainable construction can cost more than traditional supplies but the savings on energy, water, as well as the overall improvement on the quality of life is well worth it. After all, every green thing counts.

In line with this, Nuvali, the largest self-sustainable community in the country developed by Ayala Land, partnered with ABS-CBN’s Philippine Realty TV, the country’s first real estate TV show, for Project: Green Home; a milestone project that showed viewers how the second eco-friendly green 250-square meter home in Nuvali was built from the ground up. Conserving the environment entails making smart choices in our day to day existence and companies can have a huge impact on our environment, and this partnership is a step towards a sustainable and bright future.

Located on a 250-square meter area in Treveia, one of the residential areas in Nuvali, the green home is an environmentally sustainable house that utilizes passive green elements such as the utilization of sunlight or natural light, passive cooling, rain water harvesting and active green elements such as green walls, solar panels, solar-assisted air conditioners and water heaters, LED light technology, and other practical eco-friendly solutions; solutions aimed at conserving our resources for a better tomorrow.

John Aguilar, executive producer and director of Philippine Realty TV, says, “For us behind the show, Project: Green Home is more than just a marketing endeavour. For Nuvali, it is not just about selling more houses; after all, it’s not worth everything that we’ve been going to. Going green is not that easy. We have a lot of challenges ahead of us. These really are the efforts we’ve been giving towards more sustainable practices.”

Nestled in Laguna in the suburban cities of Sta. Rosa and Calamba and the municipality of Cabuyao, Nuvali is a sprawling commercial, retail and residential development that offers a lush haven for work, leisure, and home. Nuvali recognizes the fact that every green thing counts, and an essential part of Nuvali’s sustainability efforts is to educate the public about the benefits of going green and encouraging them to do their part for the Earth; to take action and embrace sustainability in shaping our future.
